Prof. Dr Gunnar Martin

Explaining and understanding the structure and use of complex, socio-technical information systems and designing and developing them from an economic point of view is a challenge to which Prof. Dr. Gunnar Martin has devoted himself for a long time in a scientific, advisory and practical capacity.

Born in Cologne, Prof. Dr. Gunnar Martin studied economics at the University of Kassel. He then worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Business Informatics, at Saarland University (Chair: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. A.-W. Scheer). This was followed by a position as senior consultant and senior researcher at the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH), where he set up and led his own research group in the field of business informatics. His tasks included the strategic planning of IT-related research topics as well as the acquisition, management and operational implementation of (inter)national and industry-related research, development and consulting projects. Parallel to his work at DFKI GmbH, Prof. Dr. Gunnar Martin researched and taught at universities in Germany and abroad, is the (co-)author of numerous peer-reviewed specialist publications, and a member of various review panels and programme committees of renowned specialist journals and conferences.

Since 2010 he has held the professorship for “Business Informatics – Business Information Systems/ERP Systems” at Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences.
